Do You Squidoo?
One of my goals for ‘08 was to get better at using social media as a marketing tool. This week I’ve been taking a look at Squidoo. If you haven’t see Squidoo, you should really check it out.
nce you set up your free account, you get to create a lens. A Squidoo lens is like a mini-page that focuses on whatever you want to focus on. You can write a little about yourself, about your business, even about your pets if that’s what you want to focus on. This is great from a marketing point of view, because you can make as many different lenses as you want. For instance, one of my blogs is about running a successful restaurant. I can set up a lens focusing on different aspects of restaurant operation, and how to be successful. I also have the ability to add a feed for my restaurant blog.
Best of all, Google seems to like the social marketing sites, and considers links from these sites to be good quality links, which helps your blog.
Another thing about Squidoo is the possibility of earning a little passive income through AdSense ads placed on your lens. I haven’t seen any stats on how the income is divided up, but I’m looking at Squidoo primarily as a marketing tool. If I can also earn a few cents here and there, so much the better.
I’m just getting started with Squidoo, and I don’t know for certain how good the results will be, but I ‘ve heard some pretty good things about it. I’ll keep you posted as things move along.

I created a Squidoo lens several months ago and earned $3 the first month. I know this isn’t much, but I earned this money with zero promotion and only three or four posts. It’s been awhile since I posted new content, but the lens continues to generate a few cents each month. With regular updates and marketing, it may be possible to earn a little cash with the site.
