Congrats on the 3! (I went from 2-3 also).

I really know what you mean though. I was a sprinter as well, post post post was my motto, then break.

Well, if you read my latest post, you'll see why I came to the conclusion that this wasn't the best option (for me anyways) and the somewhat drastic measures I'm taking to rectify it.

I've also set myself up on a writing schedule ;)

Thanks.

I'm all for stretching myself and reaching into new territories, but that new territory still has to something that allows me to look at myself in the mirror and know that I did the right thing morally and ethically.

I've been in this situation recently. I retained a client who is a web developer and one of the first projects I got was to re-write the copy for a channeler/psychic healer. Now, I think this stuff is a bunch of hooey, but it was a good paying job and I took it as a challenge. As a freelancer, I can't always write about subjects that get me jazzed up, but I do have my standards. I'd never do any X-rated or adult material for a paycheck, but for a Klondike bar...that's another story.

I remember those commercials. They always made me laugh.

What would I do for a Klondike bar? I would step outside my normal comfort zone if I could see that it would enhance my abilities. That's what I'm doing with my new job. However, I definitely would not go against my personal beliefs. I've been in similar situations as yourself and I've always turned those offers down.

Good for you, sticking by your convictions. There are some people that will sell out if the price is right.

A thirst for knowledge is a good thing, especially for a writer. I just need to figure out how to carve out more time to pursue my varied interests.

Again, you've nailed it with this post. I agree with you. I've seen many people classify themselves as "experts" but they seem to be the only ones saying that. ;-) It takes a lot of studying there are a few subjects that I know very well. I've studied them for years and have taking courses or am continuing my education. Although I rarely refer to myself as an "expert" I do receive a lot of referrals from people who view me as an expert in a few fields.

I'm like you I'm a jack of many trades. It didn't happen overnight it took time. Whatever I'm interested I learn as much as I possibly can about the topic. That requires a lot of studying. I've an insatiable thirst for knowledge and that has really helped me immensely.

It depends at times I have an outline but for the most part my "outline" are a few buzzwords. I go back and expand, make edits, read what I've written out loud, make a few more adjustments. I run Grammarian to catch anything I've missed. I'll read it one more time, and then I send it. The right way for one person might be the wrong way for someone else.

I created a Squidoo lens several months ago and earned $3 the first month. I know this isn't much, but I earned this money with zero promotion and only three or four posts. It's been awhile since I posted new content, but the lens continues to generate a few cents each month. With regular updates and marketing, it may be possible to earn a little cash with the site.
